Kannana Kannae Nee Kalangaathadi

Kannana Kanne-Pie of my eyes

This is an awesome song a tribute to Tamil as a language which can come with such awesome cute quotient with minimal wordplay but profound metaphors. Vignesh Shivan’s lyrics is a revelation in this movie. Critics of Anirudh probably are missing that along with Santosh Narayanan and Ghibran he is taking Tamil film music to a new heights. Sean Roldan has a voice which sounds as if his vocal chords were removed and had the right abrasion to produce the voice he possess. My wife greatly enjoyed listening to it, once i asked her to notice the lyrics.

Kannana Kannae Nee Kalangaathadi
Kannana Kannae Kannana Kannae
Nee Kalangaathadi Nee Kalangaathadi
Yaar Pona Yaar Pona Enna
Yaar Pona Yaar Pona Yaar Pona Enna
Naan Iruppaenadi
Nee Kalangaathadi

Dearest, Do not be dismayed,
Dearest, dearest, dearest
Do not be dismayed, Do not be dismayed
No matter who has left you, No matter who has left you
I will be there for you, Do not be dismayed

Oru Ganam Oru Pothum Piriyakoodaathae
En Uyire En Uyire Nee Azhuka Koodaathae
Nee Kanda Kanavu Ethumae Kalaiyakoodaathae
Naan Irukkum Naal Varaikkum Nee Azhuka Koodaathae

Not for a moment, not for a second, should we be separated
My throbbing life, My throbbing life Never shed tears
And let none of your dreams ever be wrecked
Till the moment I exist, Never shed tears

Kidachatha Izhakkurathum
Izhanthathu Kedakkurathum
Athukku Pazhakurathum Nyaayamthaanadi
Kudathatha Edukkurathum
Vaera Onna Kudukkurathum
Nadanthatha Marakkurathum Vazhakkam Thaanadi

To lose what we get
And get what we lose
Is how we tend to accept things and it is innate
To take what is given
And give back with something else
To forget things that transpired, and that it is usual

Kannana Kannae Nee Kalangaathadi
Èn Uyirøda Aathaaram Neethaanadi
Nee Kalangaathadi Nee Kalangaathadi
Yaar Pona Yaar Pona Enna
Yaar Pona Yaar Pona Yaar Pona Enna
Naan Iruppaenadi
Nee Kalangaathadi

Dearest of dearest, Do not be dismayed,
You are the fount of my life
Do not be dismayed, Do not be dismayed
No matter who has left you, No matter who has left you
I will be there for you, Do not be dismayed

En Viral Idukkula Un Viral Kedakkanum
Nasungura Alavukku Irukki Naa Pudikkanum
Naan Kanna Thørakkayil Un Mugam Theriyanum
Usurulla Varaikkumae Unakku Ènna Pudikkanum

Between the web of my fingers, your fingers should lie
And those fingers should crush under the warmth of mine
When I wake up, your face is what I should see first
And you should love me till my life exist

Kadal Alai Pøla Un Kaal Thøttu Urasi
Kadal Ulla Pøravan Naan Illadi
Kadal Manna Pøla Un Kaaløda Otti
Kara Thaandum Varai Naan Iruppaenadi
Kannaana Kannae Nee Kalangaathadi
Èn Uyirøda Aathaaram Neethaanadi
Kannana Kannae Nee Kalangaathadi
Yaar Pøna Ènna Naan Iruppaenadi

Like those surging waves of sea, scraping your legs
And returning to sea, is not how I will be
Like those specks of sand sticking on to your foot
I will be there with you till you cross the shores as specks
Dearest of dearest, Do not be dismayed,
You are the fount of my life
Dearest of dearest, Do not be dismayed
No matter who has left you, I will be there for you,

Oru Ganam Oru Pøthum Piriyakøødaathae
Èn Uyire Èn Uyire Nee Azhuka Køødaathae
Nee Kanda Kanavu Èthumae Kalaiyakøødaathae
Naan Irukkum Naal Varaikkum Nee Azhuka Køødaathae

Not for a moment, not for a second, Never should we be separated
My throbbing life, My throbbing life Never shed tears
And let none of your dreams ever be wrecked
Till the day I exist, Never shed tears

Nitham Nitham Nee Odanja
Otta Vaikka Naan Irukkaen
Kitta Vachu Paathukkavae Uyire Vaazhuraendi
Pethavanga Pøna Ènna
Šathamilla Un Ulagil
Nitham Oru Mutham Vaikkathaan uyire Vaazhuraendi

Day upon days when you feel shattered
‘Will be there to stick you back like a glue
To shower you with care, is why I am alive, my throbbing life
What if parents are gone forever
In your world of silence
To plant kisses to you, is why I am alive, my throbbing life
